Northern Virginia – Succeed to Lead (STL) is pleased to announce that it has won two grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide executive consulting and guidance, management and technical assistance to newly minted 8(a) certified business owners. The assistance is also provided to small disadvantaged businesses as well as businesses operating in high unemployment areas.

The SBA created the 8(a) Business Development program to provide business development and technical assistance to small, disadvantaged businesses. Historically, these businesses are owned by women and minorities. Participants of the 8(a) program are eligible to receive sole source contracts as well as team with other contractors for large government contracts. The end goal is to have small, disadvantaged businesses become competitive contributors to the economy. Succeed to Lead was awarded two grants, one for the Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia metro areas and the other for Nevada, Arizona, California, Hawaii and Guam. STL consultants will provide specific counseling and guidance to new 8(a) participants on such topics as financial management, leader and leadership development responding to Request for Proposals, teaming arrangements, and much more.
